Windsor, the women's fashion chain known for prom dresses and occasion wear, will shut its Westfield Montgomery Mall location in Bethesda on Sunday, Aug. 16, ending a seven-year run at the shopping center.

A sign posted in the store's display window lists Sunday as the final day of business, according to Robert Dyer's Bethesda retail blog, which reported the closure Thursday, Aug. 13. The sign directs customers to nearby Windsor stores at Wheaton Plaza, Tysons Corner Center and Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

Windsor opened at Montgomery Mall in 2019. The California-based retailer, founded in 1937 by the Zekaria family and now led by CEO Leon Zekaria, operates more than 350 locations across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, selling dresses, casual wear and accessories aimed at shoppers ages 18 to 34. The blog reported no evidence the company is closing other stores, suggesting the Bethesda departure is an isolated decision rather than a chain-wide pullback.

No replacement tenant has been announced.

The closure comes as Westfield Montgomery simultaneously brings in new brands. Ay! Mama Taqueria, a birria restaurant, opened on the mall's Dining Terrace in early August. Gorjana, a Laguna Beach-inspired jewelry boutique, opened on Level 1 in July. And the mall has announced additional tenants arriving throughout 2026, including a two-level Zara, Popmart, Wetzel's Pretzels, Häagen-Dazs, HEYTEA, Kami Ramen, MINISO and PacSun, according to The Sentinel.

Shoppers looking for final markdowns can visit the store through Sunday, Aug. 16. The nearest remaining Windsor location is at Wheaton Plaza, roughly four miles north.
