Dear Matcha, a beverage brand that started inside a Rockville juicery, opens its first standalone shop at 4928 Cordell Ave. in downtown Bethesda on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The grand opening celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature R&B music from DJ Xaje, the full matcha menu, exclusive drinks, giveaways and merchandise, according to the MoCo Show, which first reported the opening.

Dear Matcha launched inside Mia Cane Juicery and Açaí at 785-I Rockville Pike in the Ritchie Center. Dante Chhom owns both businesses, according to business records. The matcha concept expanded through pop-ups and farmers markets across the region before landing a permanent Bethesda address.

The Bethesda shop is Chhom's first standalone location for the brand.

Mia Cane, the juicery where Dear Matcha got its start, opened its Rockville store in September 2024. Its menu centers on açaí bowls and cold-pressed sugar cane juice. The business first launched in Worcester, Massachusetts, before expanding to the D.C. area, according to the MoCo Show.

The Cordell Avenue storefront sits near the former location of Alatri Bros., a pizza restaurant owned by brothers Roberto and Riccardo Pietrobono that closed July 24 after roughly a decade in business. Alatri Bros. operated at 4926 Cordell Ave., where it opened in 2016 after taking over the former Mia's Pizzas space, according to Bethesda Magazine. The Pietrobono brothers also own Olazzo and Gringos & Mariachis in Bethesda.

No regular hours or detailed menu for the new Dear Matcha location have been announced.
