A boutique hair salon specializing in custom color work is preparing to open at 7030 Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Bethesda, next door to Town Jewelers.

Volume Hair Salon, which bills itself as an intimate alternative to high-volume shops, has posted a hiring sign in its storefront window and is already accepting appointments through its online booking page, according to Robert Dyer's Bethesda blog, which first spotted the business on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The salon says on its website that it is led by experienced colorists focused on artistry, precision and advanced color theory, with a boutique approach that prioritizes personalized service over volume. No official opening date has been announced, though the booking page is live.

Its service menu runs well beyond basic cuts. Custom color starts at $380, vivid color at $400, standard color at $160 and short haircuts at $80. The full list also includes balayage, hair extensions (tape-in), keratin complex treatments, K18 hair masks, scalp-health detox treatments, metal detox treatments and bridal or special-occasion updos. Appointment times range from 30 minutes for a standard color touch-up to 60 minutes or more for custom and vivid color work.

The storefront sits in the 20815 ZIP code along the Bethesda-Chevy Chase stretch of Wisconsin Avenue, a corridor that has seen a string of new openings. The Beacon reported Wednesday that Hammer & Nails men's grooming opened on Woodmont Avenue, and PopUp Bagels is set to open Friday, Aug. 14, in downtown Bethesda after two delays.
