A 72-year-old man was last seen Tuesday, Aug. 11, near the Bethesda-Rockville border, and Montgomery County police are asking for the public's help finding him.

Audley Edwards was last seen at 8:10 p.m. in the area of Medical Center Drive in Rockville, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Department of Police. The road runs close to the Bethesda line, placing Edwards' last known location within minutes of downtown Bethesda.

He walks with a slight limp.

The department's 6th District Investigation Section described Edwards as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds, with short gray hair, a short gray beard and glasses. When last seen, he was wearing a baseball hat, a blue polo shirt with a logo on the chest, gray or black jeans and white sneakers.

The department posted the alert on its verified X account Tuesday evening. As of Wednesday, Aug. 12, police have not confirmed whether Edwards has been found, and the alert remains active. The post had received more than 1,100 impressions and four retweets by Wednesday morning.

The 6th District, based in Gaithersburg, covers the Rockville area and is handling the investigation. Bethesda falls under the department's 2nd District, but the last known location on Medical Center Drive sits at the boundary between the two jurisdictions, making it possible Edwards could have traveled into the Bethesda area.

Police have not released details about the circumstances of Edwards' disappearance or whether he has any medical conditions that could put him at risk.
