Junction Bistro, Bar & Bakery will permanently close its Chevy Chase location at 5471 Wisconsin Ave., Suite 206B, after service Friday, Aug. 28.

The restaurant announced the closure in a message to customers, thanking the community for years of morning coffee runs, weekend brunches and lunches. The company did not give a reason for shutting down, according to the Alexandria Brief.

The shutdown marks the second Junction location to close in about a month. The brand's Capitol Hill outpost at 238 Massachusetts Ave. NE shut down in late July, leaving only the Alexandria restaurant at 1508 Mount Vernon Ave. still operating.

The MoCo Show first reported the Chevy Chase closure Thursday, Aug. 27. In its announcement, the restaurant said the Alexandria location is performing well and that the company is excited to keep serving that community. The closure applies only to the Chevy Chase site.

Junction billed itself as a neighborhood restaurant and bakery focused on scratch-made food and quality ingredients. The Chevy Chase location sat along Wisconsin Avenue near the Friendship Heights border, an area that draws foot traffic from both Maryland and D.C. shoppers. Its menu featured breakfast sandwiches, French toast, biscuits and gravy, brunch plates, salads, burgers and house-smoked brisket.

The Capitol Hill closure drew neighborhood attention when PoPville reported it in July. Neighbors cited a possible rent dispute with the Heritage Foundation, which owns that building, though PoPville noted the claim was unconfirmed. Junction itself has not publicly addressed the reason for either closure.

The company's sole remaining restaurant operates at 1508 Mount Vernon Ave. in Alexandria's Del Ray neighborhood. No replacement tenant or future use for the Chevy Chase space has been announced.
