Bethesda-Chevy Chase shut out crosstown rival Walter Johnson 60-0 on Thursday, Oct. 8, at Walter Johnson High School.

The Barons improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Class 4A North, good for second place in the region, according to MaxPreps. The win came one week after B-CC's 15-8 loss to Paint Branch on Oct. 2.

Quarterback Jack Conley led the offense with two rushing touchdowns and a touchdown pass to tight end Ezra Wilks. B-CC's defense made an early statement when linebacker JP Ciavola forced a fumble, scooped the loose ball and returned it for a score.

"We called a blitz, I got downhill, line was wide open," Ciavola told The Tattler, B-CC's student newspaper. "Got through, popped the quarterback and scooped it up and scored."

Max Randazzo contributed a punt-return touchdown and a rushing score. Daniel Pevzner and MJ Joinvil each added rushing touchdowns as B-CC built a 47-0 halftime lead. Tyler Contreras scored in the second half after the Barons pulled their starters, and junior quarterback Will Cadou finished the game under center.

The Barons managed the blowout without running backs Aiah Mbayo and Ezekiel Arthur-Amakye, both sidelined with injuries, The Tattler reported. Head coach Matt Schwartzback, in his third season at B-CC, remains undefeated against Walter Johnson during his tenure.

Walter Johnson, led by first-year head coach Jaquis McCray, rotated quarterbacks five times during the game, alternating between senior Luke Maynard and junior Cole Chocklett. The Wildcats entered the contest at 2-3.

B-CC travels to Blake on Friday, Oct. 16, at 6:30 p.m. The Barons then host Springbrook on Thursday, Oct. 22, and Walt Whitman on Thursday, Oct. 29.
