Local and regional artists have until Aug. 31 to apply for a solo or group show at Gallery B, the no-commission gallery in downtown Bethesda's Arts & Entertainment District.

The Bethesda Urban Partnership, which operates the gallery at 7700 Wisconsin Ave., announced the deadline on Thursday, Aug. 6. BUP said the gallery is taking rental applications for 2027 exhibits and offers artists a chance to sell their work and gain exposure in Bethesda without paying any commission on sales.

The no-commission model sets Gallery B apart from most commercial galleries, where artists typically give up 40 to 50 percent of a sale price. Here, exhibitors rent the space and keep every dollar from work sold during their run.

Applications are open to anyone.

BUP first opened the 2027 application window on July 14, when the organization posted on X encouraging "all artists to apply" for a chance to showcase work in the heart of downtown Bethesda. Artists can apply for either a solo exhibition or a group show, and full details and the application form are available at bethesda.org/gallery-b.

The gallery hosts rotating exhibitions throughout the year, drawing painters, printmakers, mixed-media artists and photographers to the Wisconsin Avenue storefront. Its most recent show, "Convergence," featured more than 40 BIPOC artists and ran through Aug. 2. Next on the schedule is "Layered Lives: Women in Print" by Suzanne Bartlett, Barbara Bitondo, Kristine DeNinno and Clare Winslow, on view Oct. 6 through Nov. 1.

Gallery B is open Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
