Shake Shack's downtown Bethesda location at 7535 Old Georgetown Road looks ready to serve burgers.

The chain's interior fit-out inside the Element 28 apartment tower is complete, with ordering kiosks, seating and neon signage in place as of Wednesday, according to Robert Dyer's Bethesda Row blog, which published photos of the finished space.

The restaurant is expected to open sometime in August, though Shake Shack has not announced a specific date.

"The burger chain got overly optimistic this spring in announcing a June 24 opening date, but as you can see, the interior fit-out of the restaurant is now complete," Dyer wrote on July 29.

Shake Shack secured a nearly $1 million interior build-out permit for the space, which occupies the former SunTrust bank footprint on Element 28's ground floor, MoCo Show reported in May. The location appeared before Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services for its liquor license hearing on June 4.

The opening adds to a busy summer for the Old Georgetown Road retail corridor. Agora opened Wednesday, July 22, and PopUp Bagels is targeting a Friday, August 7 grand opening at 7607 Old Georgetown Road in the nearby Solaire apartment complex, according to Bethesda Magazine. Buffalo Wild Wings GO also signed a lease at the nearby Shops at Sumner Place in July.
