Three holiday markets land in the Bethesda and Chevy Chase area over the next six weeks, giving residents a run of chances to shop local artisans before the gift-giving rush.
Strathmore's Museums & Makers Holiday Market kicks off the season, running Thursday, Nov. 12 through Saturday, Nov. 14 at 10701 Rockville Pike. The market features handmade gifts from local artists and nonprofit museums, according to Visit Montgomery's holiday market guide. Purchases support the nonprofits and independent artists behind the booths.
Artist Martina Sestakova, who plans to sell work alongside fellow artist Jennifer Barlow, posted on Instagram that the market runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Strathmore has not published confirmed hours on its own website.
The following weekend, the Woman's Club of Chevy Chase hosts its WCCC Artisan Market on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 7931 Connecticut Ave. Visit Montgomery lists the market running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers can browse handmade art and hand-painted ceramic bowls and enter a raffle for a handcrafted piece, according to the guide.
The club has been promoting community welfare in Chevy Chase since 1913. It raises money through the fair to support local artists and local charities.
Bethesda's Winter Wonderland closes out the season on Saturday, Dec. 5, from noon to 4 p.m. The outdoor event features live ice sculpting, a visit from Santa Claus, kids' crafts and face painting, a student concert and food from Bethesda restaurants Olazzo, The Red Bandana and Smoke BBQ, according to Visit Montgomery. The event also includes a holiday market with local artisan vendors.
Organizers are asking attendees to bring a new toy to donate to Toys for Tots.
A prior year's event listing placed Winter Wonderland on Norfolk and Cordell avenues in downtown Bethesda. The 2026 listing does not confirm a specific street address.
