Montgomery County police are asking the public to help locate two teenage girls who disappeared in Gaithersburg within a day of each other.

The Montgomery County Department of Police's Special Victims Investigations Division issued appeals on Tuesday for both Hanady Hart, 17, and Karla Mayeli Cruz Membreno, 14. Neither teen had been reported found as of Wednesday.

Hanady Hart, 17

Hart was last seen Saturday, July 11, in the 900 block of West Side Drive in Gaithersburg. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 130 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair with a green-dyed patch. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, white tank top, blue shorts and black Jordan shoes.

Karla Mayeli Cruz Membreno, 14

Cruz Membreno was last seen Friday, July 10, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the 10 block of School Drive in Gaithersburg. She is 5 feet tall, weighs about 115 pounds, and has brown eyes and long red hair. She was last seen wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and blue pajama pants.

A busy stretch for missing-youth cases

The two appeals are part of a broader pattern. MCPD's Special Victims Investigations Division has issued at least five separate missing-person appeals for teenagers in Montgomery County between late June and mid-July 2026, according to department records. Other cases during that stretch involve teens ages 13 to 17.

How to help

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either teen is asked to call the Montgomery County Police non-emergency line at (301) 279-8000. The line operates 24 hours a day.
