Just Salad is preparing to open its first Maryland restaurant at 12242 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda's Towne Plaza. The fast-casual chain joins a wave of new restaurants at the shopping center since early 2025.
"Coming Soon" signage is now visible at the storefront, and a $495,000 building permit has been approved for construction at the site, The MoCo Show reported on Sept. 1. No opening date has been announced.
The chain, founded in 2006, operates three locations in Washington, D.C., with a fourth planned for Friendship Heights. The Rockville Pike spot will be its first location outside the District in Maryland. Just Salad's menu features salads, grain bowls, wraps, soups and smoothies, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. The company also runs what it calls the largest restaurant reusable bowl program of its kind, according to leasing documents reported by The MoCo Show in August.
The new tenant will sit next to Wonder, the food-hall concept founded by entrepreneur Marc Lore. Wonder opened its first Montgomery County location at Towne Plaza on June 4 and has since expanded to a second county site in Gaithersburg, which opened Aug. 13, according to Bethesda Magazine. The company, valued at $9 billion after raising more than $650 million in July, has additional Montgomery County locations planned for Burtonsville and Germantown.
Towne Plaza's restaurant streak began in January 2025, when Tatte Bakery & Café opened Maryland's third location at 12232 Rockville Pike. California Fish Grill followed in November 2025 with its first Maryland outpost, taking over a space previously occupied by Katsu Go. That spot was once slated for a Boston Market before the chain dropped its plans in 2022. Longtime tenants Comfort One Shoes and Navy Federal Credit Union remain at the center, which sits across Rockville Pike from Pike Center.
No spokesperson for Just Salad has commented publicly on the Rockville Pike location or a timeline for opening.
