Chevy Chase Village will hold its annual vaccine clinic Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Village Hall, 5906 Connecticut Ave.

The clinic runs from 3 to 7 p.m. and offers shots for COVID-19, flu, pneumonia, shingles, hepatitis B, RSV, meningitis, HPV and tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap). Giant Pharmacy will administer the vaccines in a partnership that also includes Chevy Chase At Home, a volunteer-run nonprofit that helps older residents stay in their homes.

Pre-registration is required. Residents can sign up at chevychasevillagemd.gov or call 301-654-7300 for those without internet access. A consent form must also be completed before vaccination. Printable copies are available online, and hard copies will be at Village Hall starting Monday, Oct. 5. Anyone who fills out the form on-site should arrive 10 minutes before their appointment.

Three COVID-19 vaccines will be available: Spikevax by Moderna ($240), Comirnaty by Pfizer ($245) and Nuvaxovid by Novavax ($280), according to the clinic flier. Residents 65 and older can get a high-dose flu shot (Fluzone HD at $163 or Fluad at $145). A newer option, the mRNA flu vaccine mFLUSIVA by Moderna ($235), is approved for people 50 and older. Standard flu shots start at $68, and the shingles vaccine costs $325.

Most vaccines should be covered by insurance, the flier states. Medicare Part B covers flu and pneumonia shots for eligible enrollees not in an HMO. Medicare Part D covers shingles and tetanus boosters. Participants who pay out of pocket can use a credit card or check payable to Giant Pharmacy.

Residents should bring their medical insurance card, prescription coverage card and a photo ID.
