A Chevy Chase man already jailed on seven counts of second-degree rape now faces 20 additional charges of child pornography possession, bringing his total to 27 counts and setting up two separate trials this fall.

Michael Raul Bilecky, 42, a resident of the 4620 North Park condominium building near Friendship Heights, was charged June 24 with 20 misdemeanor counts of possession of child pornography, according to Maryland court records. The alleged offenses occurred between Feb. 27 and March 11, a period during which Bilecky was in custody at Montgomery County jail following his Feb. 27 arrest on rape charges.

Bilecky is the creator of the "Pillars of the Past" YouTube channel, which documents archaeological expeditions in Peru and has more than 80,000 subscribers. He appeared on "The Joe Rogan Experience" in early February, weeks before his arrest. He has not posted a video since.

In April, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office indicted Bilecky on seven counts of second-degree rape without consent, a felony. Charging documents in the case have been sealed.

Defense attorney James Papirmeister called the child pornography charges an "offshoot" of the rape case and said his client never possessed the materials. Papirmeister told Bethesda Magazine that Bilecky was incarcerated during the dates of the alleged possession and that Bilecky's fiancée had full access to his electronic devices.

"That needs to be forensically evaluated," Papirmeister said. “The allegations are really distorted, really unfair and just completely injurious to Mr. Bilecky’s reputation."

Papirmeister said the sexual activity underlying the rape charges was consensual and that the acts were videotaped, which was objected to by Bilecky's fiancée. According to Papirmeister, the accuser is Bilecky's fiancée of six years, who had lived with him since late 2025.

On Monday, June 30, Montgomery County District Court Judge John Moffett set a $10,000 bail for Bilecky on the child pornography case. Bilecky remains in jail due to a Circuit Court judge's no-bond ruling on the rape case, which has been in place since February 2026. Papirmeister filed a motion to review that bond on Monday, June 22.

Bilecky also has a prior federal conviction. In 2017, he pleaded guilty to trafficking in circumvention devices related to illegally selling computer software at below-market prices, according to a U.S. Attorney's Office press release. He was sentenced to five years of probation, which a federal judge terminated early in 2021.

The child pornography trial is scheduled for August. The rape trial is set for Oct. 26 through Oct. 30 in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
