A group of suspects attacked and robbed a person on Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda at 3:44 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28.

Multiple assailants physically assaulted the victim in the 7400 block of Wisconsin Avenue and stole property, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) weekend crime recap published by The MoCo Show. Police did not specify what was taken.

Days later, officers responded to a second-degree assault in the 4800 block of Cordell Avenue at 4:28 p.m., according to Robert Dyer's Bethesda blog. The blog, published Monday, Aug. 31, described the Cordell Avenue incident as occurring "yesterday afternoon," placing it on either Saturday, Aug. 29, or Sunday, Aug. 30. The exact date could not be independently confirmed. That incident has not appeared in MCPD's official weekend recap, though the department noted its summary "does not reflect every call handled by the department over the weekend."

No suspect descriptions have been released for either incident. No arrests had been reported as of Monday, Aug. 31.

The back-to-back incidents follow a pattern of daytime violent crime in downtown Bethesda in 2026. On June 29, a man allegedly pulled a handgun on a car salesperson during a test drive at a dealership in the 7000 block of Arlington Road at 9:50 a.m. and drove off with the vehicle, according to Robert Dyer's Bethesda blog. Police did not release a description of the suspect in that case either.

MCPD has not issued a press release or public statement on either the Wisconsin Avenue or Cordell Avenue incident.
