All three Bethesda-area football teams play Friday, Oct. 2, with the marquee matchup at B-CC's home field.

The Barons (3-1) host Paint Branch (2-2) in a game that pits Bethesda-Chevy Chase's triple-option rushing attack against one of Montgomery County's most explosive runners. Paint Branch senior Alijah Bah rushed for more than 250 yards against Northwest in Week 5, according to The MoCo Show's weekly preview. Bah piled up 224 yards and five touchdowns on just 13 carries in a win over Einstein earlier this season, per The MoCo Show's Week 3 rankings.

B-CC junior quarterback Jack Conley will try to keep the ball away from Bah by controlling the clock through the Barons' ground game. The MoCo Show noted that Conley has grown more comfortable as a passer, raising the possibility that B-CC could stretch the field if Paint Branch loads up to stop the run. Senior running back Aiah Mbayo has been the Barons' primary scoring threat, tallying both touchdowns in a Week 3 win over Northwest and running for an 85-yard score in B-CC's 50-36 Week 2 victory over Blair, Bethesda Magazine reported.

After that Blair win on Sept. 11, Conley told the B-CC Tattler: "We had something to prove. People thought we couldn't beat a top team, and we just got rid of that doubt."

The Barons have won three straight since a 20-19 opening-week loss to Churchill.

Walter Johnson faces a tough test at Seneca Valley

The Wildcats (2-2) travel to Seneca Valley (2-2) looking to build on a Week 5 win over Wootton. Both teams enter at .500, but Seneca Valley brings enough offensive firepower to challenge Walter Johnson's ball-control approach, according to The MoCo Show.

WJ struggled in a 35-6 Week 3 loss to Churchill, when senior quarterback Luke Maynard threw three interceptions, according to Bethesda Magazine. The Wildcats will lean on senior running back Andrew Adepoju and junior wide receiver Wesley Fraser to keep drives alive Friday.

Whitman visits Springbrook looking for third win

The Vikings (2-2) head to Springbrook (1-3) with momentum after showing offensive improvement against Churchill in Week 5, per The MoCo Show. Senior quarterback Lucas Manatos leads a Whitman attack that rolled up 28 points in a Week 3 win over Wootton, with junior Caleb Merenstein rushing for two touchdowns and senior Jack Wills hauling in 90 receiving yards, according to The Black and White.

Merenstein has been productive all season. He ran for 134 yards and three touchdowns in Whitman's 46-0 season-opening win over Kennedy, The Black and White reported.

All three games are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2. Week 7 opponents have not yet been announced.
