The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons jumped two spots to No. 4 in the MoCo Show's county football rankings, their highest position this season, after blanking Wheaton 35-0 on homecoming night.

The rankings, published Thursday, reflect results heading into Week 5. B-CC (3-1) opened the year at No. 9 in the preseason poll and sat at No. 6 a week ago.

Senior running back Aiah Mbayo led the ground attack with 103 rushing yards and a touchdown. Junior quarterback Jack Conley accounted for 103 total yards and three scores, including two rushing touchdowns. The Barons piled up 247 rushing yards as a team.

Five players found the end zone: Mbayo, Conley, Max Randazzo, and MJ Joinvil all scored, while Jonah Moran and JP Ciavola each recovered Wheaton fumbles, according to The Tattler's recap.

"We got a special thing brewing right now," head coach Matt Schwartzback told The Tattler after the Sept. 26 win, praising the student section's energy and the program's growing momentum.

Schwartzback said the defense held up all night but pointed to unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties as the one area to clean up before facing tougher opponents.

That next test is Paint Branch (2-2), ranked No. 8 in the same poll, in a 4A North showdown. The MoCo Show wrote that B-CC has a legitimate shot to emerge from the region as the top team, with Paint Branch standing directly in the way. The Panthers' Alijah Bah totaled 245 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-14 win over Northwest.

Elsewhere in Bethesda, Walter Johnson hosts No. 7 Seneca Valley (3-1) in another 4A matchup. Churchill (4-0), which handed B-CC its only loss 19-20 in the opener, sits at No. 3 after beating Whitman 34-14.
