Kidcreate Studio has opened a children's art studio at 7525 Old Georgetown Road, Suite 100, in Bethesda, MoCo Show reported Oct. 28.
The location is the franchise's second in Montgomery County. Kidcreate also operates a studio at 12121 Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg.
The Bethesda studio is run by Sharnikya, a former software engineer who has spent more than 20 years in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia area, including engaging children in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) programs, supporting women in transition and addressing homelessness, according to the studio's website. She said her daughter's curiosity about arts and STEM inspired her to open the studio.
Kidcreate specializes in small-group art classes, camps and art-themed birthday parties. Its weekly academy classes move students through three levels: Art 1 for ages 4–6, Art 2 for ages 7–9 and Art 3 for ages 10–12+. Students work with acrylics, clay, pastels and mixed media.
The studio also offers "Together" classes for children ages 2–4 with a caregiver, a "Lab" program blending art and science for ages 5–12, and a "Kids Night Out" evening option. Individual classes start at $38, according to the studio's online calendar. Kids Night Out sessions run $75.
The calendar lists Thursday sessions running through at least May 27, 2027.
Birthday parties include a dedicated party leader, all materials and a finished project for every guest, the studio's site states.
The studio sits within walking distance of the Bethesda Metro station. The main entrance is via stairs beside a dessert shop, with an accessible entrance at 7514 Wisconsin Ave.
Lara Olson founded Kidcreate Studio after her son was getting only one hour of art a week in school, according to the company's franchise website. That search for better art access for her child grew into a national franchise.
