The Hunter's Hound, an Irish restaurant at 5471 Wisconsin Ave. in Chevy Chase, closed permanently on Thursday, Sept. 3, after nearly five years in business.

A restaurant representative told The MoCo Show the location was not generating enough business to continue operating. The restaurant opened in December 2021 inside The Collection, an upscale dining and shopping development on Wisconsin Avenue.

Owner Jason O'Brien launched Hunter's Hound after running Irish restaurants in New York City and Jersey City, New Jersey. The menu featured traditional Irish-inspired dishes including beef and Guinness stew, fish and chips, chicken liver pâté and sticky toffee pudding.

The closure adds to a growing list of restaurant departures from The Collection. Junction Bistro, Bar & Bakery, an Alexandria-based eatery that also operated at 5471 Wisconsin Ave., closed its Chevy Chase location on Saturday, Aug. 29, Bethesda Magazine reported. After that closure, a sign printed by The Collection appeared on Junction Bistro's door, saying the development was "reimagining" the space to bring "a fresh new dining and hospitality experience."

Joy by Seven Reasons, a Latin fusion restaurant that opened in The Collection in October 2022, closed in December 2025. The Heights food hall ceased operations in August 2025 after less than two years.

The string of departures has drawn attention from residents. After Junction Bistro announced its closure on Instagram on Aug. 26, commenters expressed frustration, with one asking why "everything" keeps closing in Chevy Chase.

No replacement tenant has been announced for the Hunter's Hound space.

Not all the news along the corridor is closures. Baltimore-based Kneads Bakeshop is preparing to open in Chevy Chase in the former Peet's Coffee space at 5330G Western Ave. in The Shops at Wisconsin Place, according to Bethesda Magazine.
