A new off-leash dog run on Montgomery Avenue in Chevy Chase opens Monday, Sept. 21, with separate fenced areas for large and small dogs.

Montgomery Parks announced the facility in a Town of Chevy Chase civic alert published Thursday, Sept. 17. The dog run is accessible from Montgomery Avenue. Montgomery Parks did not provide a specific street address.

The facility is open daily from sunrise to sunset, except Thursdays, when it closes for maintenance. No details on fees, permits or vaccination requirements appeared in the announcement.

Montgomery Parks described the dog run as temporary. The agency is exploring whether to acquire two adjacent parcels and considering a broader redesign of the surrounding area. Parks officials estimate the temporary setup will stay in place for five to seven years while that process plays out.
